Arriving early to help cook and set the table. Unloading the dishwasher without asking first. Being called aunt or uncle when you’re not related. These are just a few ways you know you’re no longer a guest — you’re family.

Our families are the people who know us intimately. At Leaf River Baptist Church, serving together is one way we become no ordinary family. As we serve, we create deeper connections with God and each other. We discover our spiritual gifts and partner with God to bless others.

When you bring your experiences and abilities into the local church, you’re like the aunt who brings mac and cheese at Thanksgiving. Without you, the meal just doesn’t feel complete.

Leaf RiverBaptist Church has serving opportunities for every personality, skill set, season, and schedule. No matter your age and stage of life, you bring something special to our church family!

Grow

GROW volunteers aim to welcome and serve guests. Whether it’s serving a hot cup of coffee, helping someone find a seat, or some other act of service, our goal is to help people connect to God and each other. GROW offers a wide variety of opportunities to serve before, during, and after all of our Sunday gatherings.

KIDS/YOUTH MINISTRIES

Our children’s ministry is uniquely designed for kids to experience Jesus on their level! As a Kids volunteer, you will have the opportunity to care for babies, preschoolers, elementary-age children, and even teens. There are opportunities to serve on Sundays and throughout the week. No matter your role, you will be helping to create a safe, fun, and age-appropriate environment for kids where the Bible can come to life and relationships can be built.

FACILITIES

You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Facilities volunteers get that. These men and women create a clean and welcoming environment for all gatherings. Serving opportunities are available on Sundays and throughout the week. This is a perfect team for anyone who enjoys serving behind the scenes.

Questions & Answers

Here are some answers to common questions.

The short answer is no! There are some ministries that you need to be a member to serve, such as working in the kid's ministries. However, we would love to connect with you and have you serve with us as you make the decision to join LRBC in membership.

Listen, if you don't feel qualified, you will fit right in here! 2 Corinthians 1:27 tells us that God uses the foolish things of this world, and Pastor Billy really believes that to be true...Truly, we believe that God doesn't call the qualified but that God qualifies the called. For that reason, all ministries and positions have training available to help you serve to the best of your abilities. For some areas, such as the worship team, a skill level may also be needed.

Each position has a different level of commitment. Most ministry leaders will work with you and your schedule so that you can serve the body effectively and joyously. In all cases, whether you are serving in the kid's ministry or the GROW team, there is always a substitute person who can fill in for vacations or if you become ill.

That's the easiest question yet! Pastor Billy is a great person to talk to in order to help you decide where you would be the biggest blessing and receive the most joy. Typically, the type of ministry you join will be doing exactly what you love doing outside of church. You see, God has given you passions, skills, and abilities. We believe that you can use those same passions and skills to serve the Lord. So, all that's left is to jump right in...
